MOLE
It’s hard to imagine a more inviting easychair. With its lush leather upholstery and solid conical legs, Mole offers a steadfast refuge from any kind of everyday stress. It is a maximum (and combined with the matching foodstool wickedly comfortable) counterpoint to the minimalism of Modernism. Perhaps that explains why the saucy upstart has had a place for decades in the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 1961 Mole, won the Concorso Internazionale del Mobile in Italy, suddenly focusing international attention on Brazilian design. Handmade. Frame of solid eucalyptus wood (controlled cultivation), stained, with clear varnish. Core leather webbing. Sole leather straps adjusted with lathed studs forming a membrane for the seat, back and arms (joined in a single piece). Upholstery: Polyurethane with polyester fibre, cover in leather.
